Meet Dr Gregory Lekovic, Neurosurgeon in Los Angeles, CA

dr gregory house

However, when House is lying on a gurney waiting to be rushed to surgery, he regains consciousness long enough to ask for ketamine. House has generally defended his decision to try to save his leg, but in the Season 6 finale Help Me, when faced with a patient who was making a similar decision and was reluctant to agree to an amputation, House finally admitted that his decision turned out to be a bad one. He admitted that if he had gone ahead with the amputation, he probably would not be in constant pain and would still be in a positive relationship. House attended a medical convention in New Orleans, Louisiana where he noticed a young medical school graduate carrying around unopened divorce papers all weekend.

RATINGS AND REVIEWS

Aside from the similarities in their last names and addresses — House lived at 221B which was a direct shout-out to Holmes’ residence on Baker Street — both men carried with them a distaste for the general public. Holmes was a detective out to solve the most dastardly bizarre crimes; House was a doctor by label, but at the character’s core, he was a medical detective. The criminals he fought were every crazy infectious disease that crossed his path. And yet, as much as the genius physician went out of his way to break rules, insult colleagues, put patients in danger, and feed into his own deeply troubled psyche — while masking his personal problems with a candy-popping Vicodin habit — there was an addictive quality in watching the man work.

As House and Cuddy's relationship progresses, they have clashes at work, including trying to keep the ER and ICU open. Meanwhile, Remy Hadley decides to take a leave of absence for a trip to Thailand. After admitting his relationship with Cuddy to his team, they worry if the couple can keep their work and personal lives separate. In one case, after a newborn stops breathing, the case ends in the baby living but the mother dying because she refused a critical operation for her child. After Hadley leaves, Cuddy pressures House to take on another fellow, who is Martha M. Masters, a third-year med student who is something of a child prodigy, graduating high school at fifteen and being about three years younger than any of her peers. When a patient comes in displaying smallpox symptoms, House risks his life to save the patient, but fails to save the dad who suffers from the same disease, but saves his original patient.

Friend and Lerner, who are business partners, had been offered positions when the series launched, but turned the opportunity down. After observing the show's success, they accepted when Jacobs offered them jobs again the following year.[31] Writers Eli Attie and Sean Whitesell joined the show at the start of season four; Attie would stay on the show's writing staff through the series finale, which he co-wrote. From the beginning of season four, Moran, Friend, and Lerner were credited as executive producers on the series, joining Attanasio, Jacobs, Shore, and Singer.[30] Hugh Laurie was credited as an executive producer for the second[32] and third[33] episodes of season five. House tries to get along without a team, but after having a rough time with a case, Cuddy insists he hire new fellows.

Pilot (House)

Ultimately he is unable to continue and eventually brings in Cuddy, who sends him to the hospital. Equipped with a dry and acerbic sense of humor, House is enigmatic and conceals many facets of his personality with a veneer of sarcasm. He appears and sometimes himself claims to be narcissistic, and appears to have a disdain for most people, leading some to label him "a misanthrope". Despite his cynicism, he does seem to care about his colleagues to a certain extent and while considering them "idiots" is able to sometimes put aside his pride and apologize when he has offended them in a particularly sardonic fashion. House uses his flippancy to conceal his affection toward his colleagues, and denies it to the extent that he himself sometimes forgets it. In one episode, his best friend Dr. Wilson states that House could have Asperger's Syndrome, but later tells House that he only wishes he had Asperger's so he could get away with more in life.

PATIENT'S PERSPECTIVE

Dr. Lekovic finished his residency at the Barrow neurological institute in 2008 during which time he completed fellowships in skull base/cerebrovascular surgery, complex spine surgery, and stereotactic radiosurgery. Following his training, he joined the world-renowned House Institute in Los Angeles, where he served as Chief of Neurosurgery at the House Clinic and the Director of Neurosurgery Research at the House Institute Foundation prior to his joining the faculty of the Department of Neurosurgery at UCLA in 2023. The show had its fair share of episodes where, by the end, a patient’s life was lost. As much as the medical procedural formula can be wrought with fairy-tale components that reassure viewers that everything will be all right, House always gave us a little wake-up call here and there, reminding us that fairy tales don’t belong in the operating room. It’s common knowledge that Dr. House was inspired, in part, by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes.

After treating a clinic patient, Michael Tritter, with disrespect, House finds himself on the wrong side of the law as Tritter, a police detective, starts delving into House's Vicodin habit. However, to keep House from going to jail, Wilson refuses to testify and Cuddy perjures herself in court to have the charges against House dismissed. During this season, Cameron starts getting romantically interested in House, but House appears disinterested.

Furthermore, he was once shown reading a French medical journal and an untranslated Japanese manga. For example, he used Yiddish, Russian and Latin phrases several times, but it is unknown how much of these languages he knows. He witnessed the respect given to a buraku doctor who solved the case no other doctor could.[16] He also spent some time in the Philippines, where he had dental surgery. The House Children’s Hearing Center is a comprehensive hearing center devoted to the evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of the full spectrum of hearing conditions in children, from birth to 18 years of age. Our primary goal is to ensure every child that comes through our doors receives the world-class care our 75-year history of ear and neuroscience expertise can provide. The Los Angeles-based team’s audiological staff works in close conjunction with its physicians to provide the most advanced audiometric evaluations and treatment options to ensure that patients receive the best treatment possible.

However, Wilson is no pushover; he often challenges House over his behavior and is not above tricking him to show House that although he might be right about almost everything, that skill doesn't apply to his own behavior. In one episode, House pretends to be gay to get the attention of a neighbor and Wilson even proposes to House. House's willingness to take risks and experiment with his patients extends to his own health. Beyond his use of Vicodin, he has frequently used himself as a guinea pig for drugs and medical tests. Some of these tests are aimed at curing his leg pain, while others are to help his patients or satisfy his own curiosity. This disregard for his own well-being horrifies Wilson and Cuddy, who see it as an expression of his self-destructive impulses.

He usually takes being addressed as "Greg" as a sign that the individual is being overly familiar and he often goes out of his way to hint that it takes more than calling him by his first name to strike up a friendship with him. Dr. Marty Hamilton tried to get on House's good side by addressing him as "Greg" in DNR only to have House pause and carefully emphasize "Marty" in return. In season 8, they start living together to prove to the INS that they are a legitimate couple. In We Need the Eggs, it seems that House has started to develop feelings towards Dominika.

His dependence on the drug has gotten him into trouble on several occasions, and his colleagues are unsure whether House's antisocial personality traits are the result of his addiction, his pain, or actual personality. After House joined PPTH an opening in the hospital's budding oncology department appeared. Wilson was enthusiastic about moving to Princeton, but House didn't find out why for several years - Wilson's schizophrenic brother Danny Wilson had disappeared from Princeton University.

It's at this time that former fellowship candidate, Amber Volakis, begins a relationship with Wilson. At first untrusting of Amber's motives for involvement with Wilson, he tests and questions her and her responses appear to satisfy him as to her genuine interest in Wilson, if not with the eventual outcome of the relationship itself. Despite this 'stalemate' between them, House still antagonizes her and fights with her to spend more time with Wilson. Later in the season, House awakens from a bus crash with a serious head injury and a nagging feeling that someone is going to die.

Unlike most people, Stacy can see right through House's defensiveness and can often see through his attempts to manipulate her. Most of House's fear of relationships can probably be tracked back to the pain he felt when Stacy walked out of his life. In 2012, after a year since House crashed his car into Cuddy's home, he serves his time behind bars at the East New Jersey Correctional Facility under the close watch of the prison warden.

90 Small Bedroom Decor Ideas Decorating Tips for Small Bedrooms

design a small bedroom ideas

This small bedroom idea helps trick the eye into believing the space is larger. Hanging window treatments closer to the ceiling creates the impression of taller walls. Have a partner hold up curtains to try it, making sure that the ends still graze the floor.

How do I plan a layout for a small bedroom?

Choose plants that fit on an end table or windowsill to save space. Rather than opting for a floor lamp, save square footage for other furnishings by suspending your lighting fixtures. In this space, a gray hanging lamp with orange wire complements the bed's pillows to create a cohesive look. We tend to neglect our ceilings, but we want to put an end to that and show how well a wallpapered ceiling can work in small bedroom. By taking the wallpaper from three quarters of the way up the walls and onto the ceiling the dimensions of the room become unclear, making it appear larger and the ceilings higher.

Or add your own under bed storage

"Ensure that your color choice is uniform throughout," adds Kropovinsky. "In a minimal bedroom, add pops of color with small accents like art or cushions to maintain a minimal yet vibrant feel." Create a focal point in your room by adding wallpaper behind your bed.

Add texture to a small bedroom with wallpaper

"Space is at a premium in small bedrooms, so I recommend a layout focused on pieces that add functional storage without a large footprint," says Todd Saunders, the CEO at FlooringStores. If you only have room for so much furniture, choose items that can be multipurpose. For example, a dresser can be beside your bed to double as a night table.

Painting an entire room a dark color like black or navy will make it feel cramped. But limit the dark color to one wall and surprisingly, the opposite is true. Visually, a dark accent wall feels farther away, giving the room more depth and making it look bigger. This stunning bedroom by @sprucephilly makes perfect use of this optical illusion, plus a pair of space-expanding bedside mirrors. Try these small bedroom decorating ideas to give yours a bigger, brighter version of beautiful. Every room needs a focal point—an eye-catching spot that establishes a hierarchy so the design doesn't appear chaotic.

Attic bedrooms and stylish guestrooms are gaining prominence as home owners are trying to make use of every available inch of room. Loft beds, Murphy bed designs and wall units that store away all the mess help in creating sleeker and more organized bedrooms as well. The trend of adding a small work space to the bedroom is also encouraging designers to opt for more ergonomic solutions.

Duck Into Corners

So, let’s dive right in and unlock the secrets of making the most of your petite sleeping quarters. "The top three ways to bring contemporary flair to a small bedroom are decluttering and simplifying, adding an accent wall, and adding great statement lighting," continues Lauren. Heidi Caillier embraces the smaller size with inky grasscloth wallpaper. While any dark paint color could create a similar impact, the striated wallpaper brings even more texture—perfect for a cozy bedroom. If you're looking for out-of-the-box ideas on how to carve out a small guest room out of basically nothing, look no further than this bedroom design by Leanne Ford Interiors.

Go for an accent wall

"Forget about the rules (two bedside tables for instance!) and consider what pieces you really need." Marta Balazs is the founder of Embee Interiors and passionate about helping people feel good in their homes. Balazs leans on Scandinavian style influences and aims to create thoughtful spaces that are calming and balanced. Another way to make your room feel more inviting is by layering your bedding with comfortable textiles, like down comforters, pillows, and throw blankets. In this space, a shibori headboard, texture quilt, and floral pillows work to make the bedroom feel more inviting. If you’re styling a bedroom for you and a partner, sit down with each other and figure out your needs as outlined above.

Tight spaces are hard to have too many elements, but with some intentional planning, a creative corner is a great option for a bedroom. To keep the rest of the floor space open or free, a built-in helps keep things feeling clean and streamlined. We're living in hybrid times, my friends, and it seems work-from-home positions aren't going anywhere. Speaking as a hybrid employee who sets up shop at the dining room table, with a chair that feels like a rock, having adequate desk space is crucial. However, be sure you're divvying up your "office" from your bedroom. "One clever way to maximize space is by placing a desk directly next to the bed," says interior stylist Vivianne Chow.

We know you'd appreciate ample room for your book-lover-approved displays, but your #BookTok collection can't possibly stand alone in your tiny bedroom. But luckily, there's a tricky way to make your library-inspired system work. With Honey Mercantile, Lange has been able to curate a destination that resonates with people looking for an authentic shopping experience where every item has a story. Honey Mercantile focuses on recirculating vintage treasures and highlighting quality makers and artists.

When it comes to saving space in small children's bedrooms loft bed ideas are the perfect solution says Bria Hammel, the CEO and creative director of Bria Hammel Interiors. The ultimate solution for small bedrooms, and particularly handy if you live in a studio flat. Sofa beds have come on in leaps and bounds in terms of comfort and the variety of styles available.

Creating a beautiful space within limited square footage doesn't have to be complicated. Our best advice on how to decorate and arrange furniture in a small bedroom? In this bedroom, a suzani patterned tapestry serves as an eye-catching headboard. Paired with other boho accessories, it ties the whole room together.

Since we had explored volcanoes in Hilo, we decided to spend this day in the water. Pride of America Review

It’s a fantastic way to see Hawaii without having to hop on and off planes. We had a marvelous time and I would highly recommend it. The Norwegian 7 Day Hawaiian Island Hopping cruise was great for those who have seasickness, since the boat stayed between islands and didn’t travel far out to sea. I highly recommend this cruise if you haven’t been to the islands before, or if you are wanting to experience the islands from a different view. The ability to visit multiple islands and not worry about traveling or getting to places on time made vacation really feel like a vacation. For those that aren’t into biking around volcanos, there are many other excursions available to choose from waterfall hikes, zipline tours, volcanic tours, Japanese gardens, and much more.

Land Vacations

It was also one of the most sparsely populated areas of the ship. In addition to the fitness center, water aerobics was offered at the pool. Most of the excursions we took were quite long and included lunch. Norwegian Cruise Line is known for their “freestyle” dining.

This wonderful cruise was $20 per person ($10 for children under 10) for a 90-minute roundtrip tour of the Wailua River. The main port of Honolulu is off the beaten path from the main city. We didn’t spend much time here as we wanted to board the ship early in order to find our rooms and get familiar with the ship, as this was our first cruising experience.

And once we reached our destination and were heading back to the states, those were the longest six days of my life. But that’s a circle cruise … I am imagine a one-way and then fly back/there or whatever would be different. Per the itinerary, you get about two days on the island of Maui, Big Island of Hawaii, and Kauai, which is a very reasonable amount of time to explore the islands’ main attractions. Exploring Oahu, which unquestionably is a must-do, you can either arrive a couple of days early in Oahu before boarding the cruise or explore Oahu upon returning from your cruise. One amazing itinerary - which only Norwegian offers. With the most time in port - nearly 100 hours - you can capture the pure spirit and soul of Hawaii each and every day that you're on an island.

Given that we just biked around a volcano, we chose to take a nap on the ship when we returned from the tour and stay on board for dinner. Our ship left the island at 6 pm that night as we headed to Kona, on the other side of the Big Island. In between that time, you spend the day visiting different areas of the ship, familiarizing yourself with the layout, spending time laying out by the pool deck, and grabbing a snack at the buffet by the pool. There are plenty of activities to keep you occupied while you wait for the ship to depart from the port. You can book directly through the Norwegian cruise ship website.

I think our server must have been stretched too thin. At the Teppanyaki restaurant, our chef put on a great show, but the food was just okay. The Pride of America offers plenty of restaurants and lounges to enjoy throughout the one-week itinerary. If you want a more upscale meal, they’ve got that, too. This link describes all the complimentary (included in your cruise) restaurants on board and this link lists the specialty ($) dining options.
